I've done all of the SPARQL 1.1 syntax except property paths in GIT, mostly because it adds a dozen new rules and I'd need to invent a lot of new internal classes and API calls to represent them - it's really an entire new query language. I'll get to it sometime, so that 4store (and others) can use it. I'm still not planning to execute them anytime soon, ahead of the other items I mention in the post.

Great post, Dave. I must admit I knew you've been working on the new query engine for some time, but didn't realize it's been so far along for so long. Sounds like a really nice re-organization of the query engine internals. I'll definitely have to take another look!

Regarding property paths, is there parsing support for them, or is it an entirely untouched feature? I know you've been really good at parsing support in the past, and was curious about the status of SPARQL 1.1.

It's a love hate relationship at the moment. The new system is in many ways useful, but the GUI and placement of objects, etc., is annoying many people. Also, the removal of the "thumbs" icons has put us into grief status mode.

It's got no direct link that I can see to semantic technologies. I will be likely first focused on the APIs, however I haven't started the job yet so who knows what interesting data will turn up
